Consumer Goods
There are many consumer goods within the fitness industry that are very beneficial to our health and there are goods that don't really do anything. In today's day and age, health is our greatest asset and we can use some of these consumer goods to optimize our health and well being. Like I said, there are a lot of things that you should stay away from. We are going to be covering those in this article as well as what is good for your body. All in all, we'll cover various goods and services that you need and don't need in this article.
Services
The only main service that you'll need in the beginning is a personal trainer. In all honesty, if you are familiar with the gym and have experience with the gym, this is most likely not going to be needed. However, you can have your trainer assist you with your meal plans and workout plans. This won't be as expensive as them going to an actual gym with you but it will still be very beneficial. These are things you'll use daily and will only have to pay a one time fee for.
Goods
This is where we get into the good stuff. Like I said earlier, there are things that you are going to need and things that you're going to want to stay away from. All in all, make sure you do your due diligence on any product you look to purchase. First off, any "get ripped quick" exercise or device is probably not going to work and is probably a scam. This includes things like the ab chair and others. This is what the fitness industry wants you to believe so that you can buy their product. The fact of the matter is that getting into great shape takes a long time and is not by any means a quick process. These late night infomercials ultimately waste your time and money. I'd recommend purchasing a gym membership if you don't have weights available. It doesn't have to be expensive either. My gym membership costs me $15 every month and that's it.
As far as supplements are concerned, there are only five that you really need: whey protein, pre-workout, creatine, caffeine, and casein protein. You can buy BCAAs but your whey protein should include them. Stay away from some of these mass gainers and other supplements that the fitness industry advertises. The five supplements I named above have proven benefits when training in the gym. Focus and do your research on these things and you should be good.
The most important goods you can ever buy will be your food. Your diet is the most important part bodybuilding, strength training, powerlifting, or any other sport out there. If you're diet sucks, you're not going to perform at the level you should and you are definitely not going to look how you should. When it comes to getting fit, you should be focusing on consuming clean foods like lean meats, vegetables, nuts, fish, and fruits. Make sure that you are tracking your macros and calories when you are consuming these foods. I'd also highly recommend purchasing a scale so that you can weigh your food out for accuracy. Also, buy a bodyweight scale so that you can weigh yourself every morning. This will allow you to keep track of your weight throughout the week, ultimately showing you if you've made progress or not.
All in all, there is a lot of useless products in the fitness industry. Focus on the basics and you'll develop a better physique sooner than everyone looking for the shortcut.
